Emsworth has been my home all my life, as it was for my father before me (he was born in Waterside Cottages by the millpond in 1914), so I have a close affinity with Emsworth. The pictures in the galleries are my own. I hope you enjoy the content on these pages.

For more local history and other matters nostalgic, visit our local Museum over the fire station in North Street, open weekends and Bank Holidays from Easter to the end of October, plus Fridays during August. Opening times for Fridays, Saturdays and Bank Holidays are 10.30am to 4.30pm, Sundays 2.30 to 4.30pm. Website CLICK HERE

David J. Rudkin. A memorable series of booklets on 'Old Emsworth' and particularly the old Oyster Fleet, with copious photographs. Written 1974-87. Some older Emsworthians like myself will remember playing as children on the wonderful old wrecks in the harbour and by Hendy's Quay, including the Echo with her beautiful lines. More on the 'A Brief History' link below.
A.J.C.Reger. 'A short History of Emsworth and Warblington'. 1967.

1996. Covers areas from Havant to Chichester, including Emsworth.
C.J. Longcroft. 'Hundred of Bosmere' 1856.
Some if not all are still available, the local library though has copies of all.
