Mark grew up
on Hayling Island and has
been influenced by the
environment
around him in particular
horizons of heavy
industrial views combined
with
intense atmospheric
colour.
Mark was introduced to
the printmaking process
of monoprinting whilst
studying B.A. hons
Illustration at
Southampton Solent
Institute.
Each print is 'a one off'.
A plexi-glass plate is
used to create
an image using thick
print making inks that he
then applies with a
roller,
using 'tools,' that is
anything improvised, to
make indents in to the
ink.
The plate is then placed
on to a printing press
bed, paper is laid over
the top and then rolled
through the press. He
then adds further detail
with watercolour, pen and
ink. |
